The American Affluence Research Center published the results of their Spring 2011 study of the luxury market. Overall, the study shows “an improved assessment of current business conditions and a better 12-month outlook for the economy, the stock market, and personal household income.”
Significantly, the study found that the affluent, who account for over half of all consumer spending report a favorable outlook for the economy and their personal spending plans. The likelihood for major expenditures has also increased, with 10% of respondents “seriously considering” purchasing a vacation home in the next 12 months.

Forbes.com recently published results from a survey of America’s wealthiest 10%. The top new trends for the jet-set include choosing quality over status, spending more time with family and finding bargains. Not surprising in the current “back to basics” climate.
